Nursing (BSN)

Bachelor of Science

The pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the University of West Alabama prepares students to excel in diverse healthcare settings. Expert faculty design and teach courses that cover essential and in-demand topics such as mental health, maternal-child nursing, critical care, and more. Graduates of the program may be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), with eligibility determined by the state Board of Nursing.

The BSN curriculum combines academic and professional coursework to develop competence and leadership skills across a variety of patient care settings. It emphasizes individual, family-centered, and community-based care throughout the lifespan. Students gain practical experience through hands-on clinicals conducted under the supervision of experienced instructors in both direct patient care and simulated environments.

This hybrid nursing program offers a balanced learning format: approximately 80% of the coursework is delivered on campus, while 20% is completed online, providing flexibility without sacrificing the benefits of in-person instruction.
