Incoming Freshman Students

Welcome to Your New UWA Home!

Living on campus is a major part of the total college experience and freshman year is a unique time for every college student. For many, this will be the first time that you have lived away from home. For some, it might be the first time you’ve shared a room. To make the transition easier, UWA houses all new freshmen in Gilbert Hall. Our 14 Resident Assistants will be there to provide support and guidance as you adjust to college life.

Welcome to UWA and go Tigers!

Applying for Freshman Housing

Freshman year is a unique time in the life of every college student. With fourteen Resident Assistants in your freshman residence, Gilbert Hall, you’ll get the support and guidance you need to adjust to college life. Here’s what you need to know to apply for housing.

Freshman Residency Requirement

UWA requires all freshmen to live on campus for up to one academic year (there is an exemption). Living on campus provides educational and social benefits not available to students who live off-campus. The residence halls provide students with a supportive living environment, proximity to academic resources and convenient access to organized student activities. All incoming freshmen who have earned less than 24 credits are assigned to Gilbert Hall, which features suite-style rooms with bathrooms and a wide range of amenities.
