Give 'Em Hell Big L

The first individual to call (205) 652-3939 and say “Give ‘Em Hell Big L” on Giving Day unlocked an additional $665 for the fund of their choice!

The upcoming studio renovation will include doubling the size of the photography wall, adding a new mobile news desk, and increasing the equipment storage space. Join our 2013 legacy club with a monthly contribution of $20.13.

Hey folks. Greg here with an attempt to separate you from just a little bit of your money. We need your help to renovate Joe Taylor’s old Livingston Press room in Wallace 110 to support our programs. You can see from the photos we have a lot of work to do. Please give.

Changes: We’ve undergone many changes, and I’d like to give you a rundown of what you’ve missed while you’ve been out in the world and gainfully employed.

Amy Jones is now Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. She is responsible for three departments and 45 professors.

Communications (IMC) and Fine Arts are now combined under the moniker CCA, Communications and Creative Arts, with me as chair. I know. What was the administration thinking?

We inherited two failed majors, Music and Interdisciplinary Arts. To correct the problems with those programs, we launched Creative Arts Enterprise, which was just approved by the state to launch in August. Graduates, in addition to their specialties in Art, Theatre, Music, Animation, and Creative Writing, will master the ability to promote themselves in the for profit  and nonprofit sectors through coursework, internships, and web portfolios. Now, artists don’t have to live on their momma’s couches after they graduate. Please share the program details with those you know. Details are coming here: https://www.uwa.edu/departments/department-of-communications-creative-arts/

We’ve launched a new IMC track, Multidimensional Interior Design, led by Audrey Poole and Katie Beard. We already have 6 students who are working on real world projects and embracing the specialty with killer 2d and 3D animations.

We have a new departmental secretary, Hailey Frith. She’s just as crazy as the rest of us.

Sadly, Brandon Walker will be leaving us at the end of the term. We will miss him terribly. If you know people with a terminal degree, send ‘em our way. https://www.uwa.edu/employment/digital-communications-professor/

As you strongly consider giving back to those who made you great, consider reaching out to your network of former classmates. It’s easy to forget those bonds as real life gets in the way, but you had real friends here. Make the first move. And bug them to match your donation :).

Listen: Supporting Giving Day is far cheaper than the “10% of your lifetime earnings” we’ve talked about. I’m not asking for that. Not today. We just need a little help from everyone. Join the 2013 Legacy Club today.

Free Beer: We hope to see you at Homecoming! Now, go back and read the message you skipped over.

Greg Jones
