Position: Digital Communications Professor (tenure-track, rank open)

Effective Date: April 2024

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Terminal Degree (Doctorate or MFA) in Mass Communications, Integrated Marketing Communications, Applied Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field; ABD’s considered.
  • Documented experience in Video and Audio Production.
  • Commitment to quality teaching.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated preparation to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in Integrated Marketing Communications that may include graphic design, web design, advertising, social media, branding, photography, videography, professional speaking, news writing, and/or other related topics as needed.
  • Skills required for collaborative curricular decision-making and advising students.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Ability and willingness to work with students pursuing degrees in the Department of Communications and Creative Arts.

Desired:

  • Related private industry experience.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in applying technology and hands-on learning to teaching.
  • Evidence of scholarly research.
  • Successful teaching and advising experience at the collegiate level.
  • Experience in working with student-run media projects and publications.
  • Knowledge of public relations, advertising, and applied communications.
  • Experience with Generative Artificial Intelligence tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach a standard, on-campus 4-4 load of courses in the Department of Communications and Creative Arts.
  • Assist students with the development of multimedia portfolios.
  • Fulfill other faculty responsibilities, including student advisement, student recruitment, student retention, scholarly research, grant writing, creative projects, research, and participation in University and community service.
  • Serve on College and University committees, as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chairperson or Dean.
  • Willingness to collaborate and thrive in a team environment.

Salary: Dependent upon credentials; includes excellent benefits package. Opportunity to teach supplemental online courses may be available.
