Jason Green came to Livingston with a plan. He wanted to continue his education and earn a bachelor’s degree that would complement the associate’s degree he earned in funeral service education, and he did that. But he says that his experience at Livingston University (now the University of West Alabama) added more to his life and future than merely two years of higher education. Leaving with a degree under his belt, he says that what stands out to him most is what was under his feet.

UWA freezing tuition for seventh consecutive year

The University of West Alabama’s proposal to freeze tuition for the seventh consecutive year has been approved by its board of trustees at their June quarterly meeting. The decision comes as part of the board’s approval of the school’s operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year, and this reaffirms UWA’s various rankings as one of the best values of any university in the state.

UWA partners with Alabama Office of Apprenticeship to pilot state’s first teacher apprenticeship program

An executive order in January 2023 from Alabama Governor Kay Ivey to address the state’s teacher shortage has helped launch Alabama’s inaugural Teacher Apprenticeship Program. The Alabama Office of Apprenticeship (AOA), the state’s apprenticeship agency, has partnered with the University of West Alabama and three other Alabama universities to implement the pilot program set to begin in fall 2024.
