Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four years collegiate basketball coaching experience.
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills.
  • Ability and desire to motivate student-athletes to succeed academically.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a stressful and demanding environment.  
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division II regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively with administration, faculty, coaching staff, students, alumni, and boosters.

Desired:

  • College coaching and recruiting experience in the Southeastern US.
  • Master’s degree.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and plan for overall success of UWA women’s basketball program within the Gulf South Conference and NCAA South Region.
  • Monitor the academic performance of basketball student-athletes.
  • Develop player skills and provide coaching for student-athletes for specific positions.
  • Plan and manage practice sessions and games. 
  • Scout and recruit women’s basketball student-athletes, coordinating campus visits and the signing of student-athletes.
  • Analyze games and develop strategies to improve team performance. 
  • Coordinate the team travel arrangements and logistics.
  • Manage budget operations for the program and fundraise as necessary.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and participate in fundraising and community engagement activities.
  • Organize camps and alumni events to engage the university community. 
  • Hire, train, and manage assistant and graduate assistant coaches.
  • Assist with Financial Aid and eligibility matters for student-athletes.
  • Assist with other administrative duties as assigned by Director of Athletics.
