Effective Date:  Review of applications will begin August 14, 2023, and will continue until the position is filled. The preferred position start date is October 1, 2023.

Qualifications: 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in nursing.
  • A minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Current unencumbered Alabama RN license. (For those attending clinical placements in Mississippi, an unencumbered Mississippi RN license and Alabama RN license are required; or a multistate license is required).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with developing, implementing, and evaluating the program of learning within the framework of the mission of the University and the philosophy and goals of the Division of Nursing.
  • Assist with the planning, implementing, and evaluating the University and Division of Nursing policies.
  • Work with other faculty persons to establish policies for admission, progression, and graduation of nursing students within the framework of The University of West Alabama policies.
  • Assist the course coordinator in planning, implementing, and evaluating clinical course activities to ensure student mastery of end-of-program student learning outcomes.
  • Assist other faculty in selecting healthcare settings for nursing students’ clinical lab experiences.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for clinical supervision of students.
  • Meet all agency requirements for clinical supervision.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory and accrediting body standards and criteria.
  • Assist with developing and evaluating nursing curricula that are consistent with safe practice in contemporary healthcare environments.
  • Assist in the review and development of policies that support the achievement of end-of-program student learning outcomes.    
  • Maintain office hours within the framework of University policies.
  • Maintain membership in professional organizations.
  • Serve on committees of the University and the Division of Nursing, as assigned.
  • Develop professionally through attendance at professional workshops or enrollment in formal education courses to maintain current knowledge in clinical nursing.
  • Serve as a professional role model for peers and students.
  • Assist the chairperson of the Division of Nursing in planning, implementing, and evaluating an effective public relations program for the Division of Nursing and the University.
  • Participate in community activities relative to clinical role.
  • Demonstrate positive values related to academic and professional responsibilities.

The position is full-time and non-tenured.
