Position: Campus School Director

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.
  • Leadership experience, such as serving as a lead teacher, grade level chairperson, served on school leadership committees, or other relevant leadership positions.
  • Skills required for collaborative curricular decision-making and advising.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty, and administration.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills among multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of teacher evaluation and observation methods.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and implementation skills.
  • Commitment to creating an atmosphere of cooperation and positive productivity.

Desired:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
  • Advanced degree (M.Ed. or Ed.S.).
  • At least five years of teaching experience in a P-6 school.
  • Grant writing, grant management, and fund-raising experience.
  • Experience delivering professional development.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining a budget.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Campus School.
  • Create an environment where children feel safe, and enjoy coming to the Campus School.
  • Ensure that curriculum is engaging, developmentally appropriate, and inclusive of diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Manage staff in collaboration with UWA’s College of Education faculty and staff.
  • Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to staff members. 
  • Ensure that school is well-maintained.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the smooth functioning of the preschool. 
  • Manage financial transactions and prepare budgets.
  • Build, establish, and maintain a positive working environment.
  • Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback to the staff.
  • Schedule CPR and First Aid training for all staff.
  • Perform annual performance reviews of staff.
  • Seek out prospective staff, conduct interviews, and select employees as needed.
  • Develop a positive, inclusive relationship with parents
  • Ensure that all policy manuals/ handbooks are up-to-date
  • Partnerships with Educational Institutions:
    • Establish and nurture collaborative relationships with UWA and UCS.
    • Coordinate with faculty members and department heads to develop a mentorship and internship program that provides practical learning opportunities for students. 
    • Collaborate with college faculty/staff to design internship experiences that align with the goals and objectives of Campus School while meeting the academic requirements of the students. 
  • Mentorship and Supervision:
    • Identify qualified staff members to serve as mentors for student interns, providing guidance, support, and feedback throughout their placement.
    • Facilitate regular meetings between mentors, interns, and college supervisors to discuss progress, address challenges, and set goals for professional growth.
    • Ensure that interns have access to a variety of learning experiences, including observation, planning, teaching, and reflection, under the guidance of experienced educators.
