Division of Engineering Technology (ET)

The University of West Alabama (UWA) invites qualified applicants to apply for the tenure-track faculty position in the Division of Engineering Technology (ET).
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master’s (or higher) degree Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field from an accredited program, with 18 hours of graduate level coursework in the previous-mentioned disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching courses in AC/DC, Solid State Electronics, Programmable Logic Controls (PLC’s), Motor Controls, Microprocessors, Programming, etc.
- Commitment to quality teaching.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Skills required for collaborative curricular decision-making and advising students.
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
- Ability and willingness to work with students pursuing a degree in the Division of Engineering Technology.
- Evidence of professional field experience in discipline.
Desired:
- Terminal Degree Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field from accredited programs; ABDs considered.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in applying technology and hands-on learning to teaching.
- Evidence of scholarly research.
- Minimum of three years successful teaching and advising experience in higher education.
- Minimum of three or more year’s professional field experience in discipline.
Responsibilities:
- Teach a regular on-campus load of 4 courses per semester in the Division of Engineering Technology.
- Fulfill other faculty responsibilities, including student advisement, student recruitment, student retention, scholarly research, grant writing, creative projects, research, and participation in University and community service.
- Serve on College and University committees, as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chairperson or Dean.
- Willingness to collaborate and thrive in a team environment.
Salary: Dependent upon credentials; includes excellent benefits package. Opportunity to teach supplemental online courses may be available.
