Department of Communications
The Department of Communications within the College of Liberal Arts houses three tracks of the undergraduate Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) degree program, as well as all public and professional speaking courses. The department also offers a Master of Arts in Integrated Marketing Communications at the graduate level. Additionally, we maintain a chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the national communications honor society, and several other student organizations.
IMC majors may choose between three tracks in the degree program: traditional, graphic design, and sports communications.
Traditional Track: Select from upper-level communications, marketing, and behavioral science courses to prepare you for communications research. This track caters to students interested in careers in public relations, marketing or other communicative fields.
Graphic Design Track: Students complete advanced courses in graphic design, photography, and media buying. The graphic design track prepares students for careers in the advertising and creative industries.
Sports Communications Track: Students complete advanced courses in sports writing, sports magazine, and sports issues in the media. Additionally, students complete a sports internship to prepare for careers in sports writing or broadcasting, or sports management.
We also offer several student media opportunities including:
Studio 96: Full-service video and audio production studio
ZONE: Award-winning annual sports magazine
