UWA students at DISL

The University of West Alabama’s Dr. Lee Stanton and a group of UWA students will work and study at Dauphin Island Sea Lab for the coming weeks as part of the Sea Lab's University Programs summer session, which kicked off on Monday.

UWA Spring 2019 Commencement

The University of West Alabama will honor nearly 700 graduates during spring commencement exercises on Saturday, May 4, during two ceremonies. Both ceremonies will be held in Pruitt Gymnasium on the UWA campus, with presidential receptions open to all graduates and their guests held prior to each ceremony.

A group from the University of West Alabama explored the historic Fort Tombecbe recently to learn more about Sumter County’s French history. The tour was part of UWA International Programs Year of France series. A picnic on the grounds and tour of the archaeological site was led by site director Dr. Ashley Dumas.
The University of West Alabama has announced more than 500 outstanding undergraduate students named to the President’s List and the Dean’s List for the Spring 2018 academic semester. The President’s List gives recognition to undergraduate students with exceptionally high grades for the semester, those with grade-point averages of 3.80 or higher on at least twelve semester hours credit with no grade lower than a “C.”
The University of West Alabama has announced more than 500 outstanding undergraduate students named to the President’s List and the Dean’s List for the Fall 2018 academic semester. Students on the list are from 21 states across the U.S. and abroad.
Ruffin and Robbins at ORNL

Two University of West Alabama engineering technology students recently participated in a 10-week paid internship at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Tennessee, the largest U.S. Department of Energy science and energy laboratory. While there, the students worked the laboratory’s specialized areas of scientific discovery, clean energy solutions and security technologies.

The University of West Alabama will honor more than 800 graduates during fall commencement exercises Saturday, Dec. 8. The undergraduate ceremony begins at 10 a.m. in Pruitt Gymnasium on the UWA campus. The graduate ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m., also at Pruitt Gymnasium. Presidential Receptions will be held prior to each ceremony and are open to all graduates and their guests at 8 a.m. and noon in the Bell Conference Center.
Livingston's Loveliest from 2018 Miss Paragon

Bailey Anderson of Hurley, Miss., was crowned Miss Paragon at the University of West Alabama on April 10. The freshman nursing major is the daughter of Eddie and Shelly Anderson. The pageant is sponsored by the Blue Key Honor Society at UWA.
