Apply for Housing 

New Freshmen

For the fall semester, priority in assignments is given to new freshmen that apply for housing by May 1. Before applying for housing, new freshmen must first be admitted to the University of West Alabama and must pay their $200 Enrollment Confirmation Fee (ECF)  The ECF is managed by the UWA Admissions Office and may be paid online here.  Freshmen may still apply for housing after May 1, but space will be limited. Freshmen that apply for the fall semester after May 1 may be assigned temporarily to a four-person room in Gilbert Hall or to a three-person room at Selden Hall until a permanent room becomes available.  New freshmen that will begin their UWA experience during the spring semester are encouraged to apply for housing by November 15. New freshmen beginning summer semester should apply for housing by April 15.

Transfer Students

For the fall semester, priority is given to transfer students that apply for housing by March 1. Transfer students may still apply for housing for the fall semester after March 1, but space will be limited. Transfer students that apply for housing after March 1 may be assigned to a three-person room at Selden Hall. Transfer students that plan to begin spring semester should apply for housing by November 15. Transfer students that plan to live on campus during the summer semester should apply for housing by April 15. Transfer students that have earned less than 24 credits are required to live at Gilbert Hall their first year. Students that earned college credit prior to graduating from high school (dual enrollment, advanced placement, etc.), that have earned less than 48 semester credits where more than 50% of the college credits were earned prior to graduating from high school, are required to live at Gilbert Hall their first year of full-time enrollment at UWA.

Current and Returning UWA Students

Current and previously enrolled UWA students, should apply for housing by March 1. Students that apply for the fall semester after March 1 may be assigned "three-to-a-room" at Selden Hall. Students that plan to first move on campus for the spring semester should apply for housing by November 15. Students that plan to live on campus during the summer semester should apply for housing by April 15.

Special Accommodations Requests

Students with disabilities that need special housing accommodations must contact the Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs, Will Atkinson (phone: 205-652-3581, email: WAtkinson@uwa.edu). While not required, it is recommended that students with special accommodation needs apply for housing no later than March 1 for the fall semester, November 1 for the spring semester and April 1 for the summer semester.
