Kelly Land Writing Competition 

The Department of Languages and Literature at the University of West Alabama held the thirty-third annual Kelly Land Essay Scholarship competition on Friday, April 3, 2020. Participants wrote a 300-500 word essay on one of several topics complied by the judges.  




First Place (High School Competiton): Mary Kendall Glass


Second Place (High School Competiton): Baylee House


First Place (Transfer Student Competiton): Ethan Jones




The first-place winner will receive a scholarship of $1,000 for the freshman year. The second-place winner will receive $500 for the freshman year. Transfer students also have the opportunity to compete with both a first and second place winner being selected.
