Kelly Land Writing Competition
The Department of Languages and Literature at the University of West Alabama will hold the thirty-fifth annual Kelly Land Essay Scholarship competition in-person on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 10:00 - 11:30 AM. Participants write a 300-500 word essay on one of several topics complied by the judges. Following the competition, students will be provided lunch and a campus tour.

The first-place winner will receive a scholarship of $1,000 for the freshman year. The second-place winner will receive $500 for the freshman year. Transfer students also have the opportunity to compete with both a first and second place winner being selected.
Students who participate in the Kelly Land Writing Competition may also compete in the James P. Pate Essay competitions, but a student may not receive both awards.
