You’ve been accepted, what next?
One thing is certain: you have what it takes to succeed at the University of West Alabama. Based on your academic achievements, you’ve earned your place on our campus. You’ve worked hard, accomplished so much but without a doubt, the best is yet to come.
So what’s next? Let us help you with one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make. No matter what kind of information you need — we’re here for you at every step in the process. Below you’ll find the most important “next steps” that will help you reserve your place at UWA!

Visit Campus
If you haven’t been to campus yet — it’s time to schedule a visit! As you make your decision, one of the most important things to consider is fit — does the college fit your life, and do you fit in on campus. The best way to know is to visit in person and see for yourself.
During a tour, you will be able to speak with an Admissions Counselor, speak with a student ambassador, see the amazing dorms where you’ll live, and tour our beautiful facilities.
Confirm Your Enrollment
Now is the time to confirm your plans to become a UWA Tiger by paying your $200 Enrollment Confirmation fee. This one-time fee confirms your spot in the incoming class and covers items like your housing application, orientation registration, and scholarship acceptance. You won’t have to pay anything else before your enrollment. When you are ready, you may pay your Enrollment Confirmation Fee online.

Sign up for Orientation:
Furthering your education by attending college is a major step. For many people, it’s the first time they’ve ever lived away from home; there are new responsibilities and an important adjustment to the academic demands of college.
To help you be successful, we require all incoming students to go through Go West Orientation. At orientation, you meet different departments on campus, as well as people from a huge variety of student organizations. You’ll even get the chance to register for your classes.
Apply for Housing
After you pay your Enrollment Confirmation fee, you’ll need to apply for housing. You can find what you need to apply here.
Complete your Financial Aid:
Even with UWA’s great affordability, more than 88% of our students receive some type of financial aid.
Our Financial Aid Office is here to help you apply for the many types of grants, scholarships, and loans that we have available.
One of the most important steps you can take is to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Before you begin, gather your financial information, including all income and asset information, federal tax returns, etc. For the 2020 academic year, you will need your financial information from 2018. The priority deadline is May 1.
You’ll also need the UWA school code: 001024
Know the FAFSA priority filing deadline:
UWA has a priority deadline of May 1 each year, so be sure to complete your application as quickly as possible. Check your UWA email account regularly for updates on your financial aid application. Your email account is your official mode of communication with the university. If we need additional information or documentation, we’ll send you an email request.

Complete your admissions file:
After you have been accepted and finished everything else, make sure that the Admissions Office has everything we need to complete your file. Now is the time to request a copy of your final transcript from your high school, with your graduation date. Have your school mail it to the Admissions Office. You will also need to complete the medical/immunization requirements, as well as the scholarship application, if you have not done so already.
