The University of West Alabama will commemorate the inauguration of President Todd G. Fritch with an investiture ceremony on Friday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. in UWA Auditorium. The ceremony will be followed by a reception in the courtyard of Bell Conference Center.
Seats for the investiture ceremony are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Overflow seating with streaming will be offered in Bridges Auditorium at Wallace Hall.
Two events of Presidential Inauguration Week at UWA give community members an opportunity to engage with President Fritch and share in his vision for the campus community.

“Pitch In With the President” is a community service event that includes four primary opportunities to serve, including donation drives for the UWA Student Food Pantry or Tiger Threads, reading to area school students, and engaging in community clean-up efforts. This community-wide event allows opportunities on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 9 until noon. Volunteers will meet at the SUB Lawn at 9 a.m. on Wednesday for instructions and any applicable materials needed. Those who wish to participate are encouraged to sign up for service opportunities here.

On Thursday, Sept. 11, the University will host “Come Together at the Amp” on the grounds of the UWA Amphitheater from 5 until 9 p.m. The event features live music from the Daniel Houze Band and inflatables for youth. BBQ sandwiches will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The evening will include a 9/11 memorial reflection.
Other events on campus during the week include “Sips & Sticks,” a reception for faculty and staff, and “Puttin’ with the Prez,” a recreational event with students.
Fritch began his term as the University’s thirteenth president on January 2 of this year.
