The University of West Alabama will commemorate the inauguration of President Todd G. Fritch with an investiture ceremony on Friday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. in UWA Auditorium. The ceremony will be followed by a reception in the courtyard of Bell Conference Center.

A new scholarship endowment will honor a family legacy at the University of West Alabama, its namesake the parents of UWA President Ken Tucker. The Dr. Betty Jean and Howard Tucker Endowed Scholarship, endowed at $150,000, is a transformative gift that will provide perpetual support for students for many years to come.

The University of West Alabama’s proposal to freeze tuition for the seventh consecutive year has been approved by its board of trustees at their June quarterly meeting. The decision comes as part of the board’s approval of the school’s operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year, and this reaffirms UWA’s various rankings as one of the best values of any university in the state.

UWA is opening its doors to Birmingham-Southern College students by offering transfer assistance through academic and housing scholarships.
To encourage safety on the road before the University of West Alabama’s spring break, March 25 through 29, the University Police Department is offering two events: a tire change instructional clinic Wednesday, March 20, from 1-3 p.m. and an impaired driving and Fatal Vision® presentation Thursday, March 21 beginning at 6 p.m. that lasts approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
