The Cost of Attendance (COA), or student budget, is an estimate of the total cost of attending the University of West Alabama. It includes tuition, fees, housing, and other indirect expenses.

Please note that the COA is an estimate, and actual costs may vary based on individual circumstances.

How COA Impacts Financial Aid

Financial aid offers are based on a COA structure determined by federal regulations. The COA consists of:

  • Direct Costs – Expenses paid directly to UWA, such as tuition, fees, and on-campus housing and meal plans. Learn more about the direct costs associated with attending UWA.
  • Indirect Costs – Anticipated expenses not paid to UWA but necessary for living and academic success, such as off-campus housing, transportation, books, and personal expenses.

The COA represents the maximum amount of financial aid a student can receive from all sources, including scholarships, grants, work-study, and student loans.

All student budgets are calculated using the same cost components and are based on the number of months a student is enrolled. Undergraduate COA is based on a nine-month academic year (fall and spring), while graduate students are budgeted for a 12-month academic year.

Net Price Calculator

The UWA Net Price Calculator helps future Tigers estimate the overall cost of attending the University of West Alabama. Before getting started, have your most recent income tax information and Student Aid Index (SAI) ready for the most accurate results.

Your estimated cost of attendance includes both direct costs—like tuition, housing, and meals—and indirect costs such as books, transportation, and personal expenses that are not billed directly by the University. Because of these factors, the calculator provides an estimate to help you plan and explore your financial options for a UWA education.
