Sucarnochee Revue   

The mission of the Center for the Study of the Black Belt is to foster greater appreciation and understanding of the Alabama Black Belt. The Center encourages scholars and citizens to address the region’s challenges by drawing from its abundant natural, historical, and cultural resources.

The Center is composed of multiple units and projects that serve to preserve and promote the assets of the region. These units include the Black Belt Garden, the Black Belt Archives, the Black Belt Heritage Area, the Black Belt Hall of Fame, the Black Belt Conservation and Research Institute, the Sucarnochee Revue radio show, the Black Belt Symposium on History and Literature, the Sucarnochee Folklife Festival, and the Americorps VISTA program – University of West Alabama Poverty Reduction Project.
