Hello, I am Dr. Gilbert. I have a PhD in Health Psychology, and practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I am a full-time member of the UWA faculty and have a private practice in Meridian, Mississippi. I strive to fulfill the role scientist-practitioner. A balance must be maintained between clinical practice and academic pursuit. We are training a portion of the next generation of clinical practitioners and Public Safety Professionals. Including current clinical experience as a part of the courses we offer improves the quality of the courses and the marketability of out graduates. My clinical interests include the academic and clinical aspects of pain management, Geriatrics/dementia, and various aspects of Public Safety Professionals and Service Members who serve to protect our freedom and safety every day. I have a 20+ year background in Public Safety, and this remains one of my passions. Academically I try to support our growing Department of Behavioral Sciences by teaching graduate level counseling courses and assisting in program development. I also an committed to seeing out Bachelor's Degree in Public Safety grow and provide a needed avenue for out Public Safety Professionals to advance their education and their careers.
