Dr. Russell R. Davis is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of West Alabama. Dr. Davis holds a M.S. in Rural Sociology from The Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Louisiana State University. As a Rural Sociologist, his research and teaching interests focus on rural communities, social inequality and poverty, and social determinants of health. He is currently serving as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Alabama Rural Health Association, the Faculty Adviser of the UWA Student Rural Health Association. Dr. Davis teaches UWA courses in: Principles of Sociology, Minority Relations, Sociology of Aging, Sociology of Community, Sociology of Work, Research Methodology, and Contemporary Social Theory.
