The University of West Alabama’s department of mathematics participates with the department of computer information systems to offer this in an interdisciplinary program. Gain a strong foundation in mathematics, techniques of computation and graduate ready for a career in programming and information processing for business and government.

Curriculum

  • Enhance critical thinking skills

  • Enhance understanding of computer applications

  • Courses in calculus, differential equations, and advanced mathematics

  • Courses in programming, internet applications and database management

  • A minor is not required for this program

  • High potential for employment in computer science, mathematics and engineering related fields

Career Preparation

The program prepares students for careers in academic, financial and government settings as well as for study in graduate or professional schools. Many of our graduates in the Mathematics-Computer Information Systems have been employed in various computer and engineer related fields. Graduates also have the potential to find employment in teaching, as well as scientific related jobs including information scientist, mathematician, and research assistant.
