Michael Tignor is Assistant Director of Bands at the University of West Alabama where he assists with the direction of the Scarlet Band, the spring concert ensembles, and runs the Side Court Posse. Prior to coming to UWA, he served as a General Music Specialist in the Jefferson County Public School system (Louisville, Ky) and served as the Pep Band Director at Eastern High School (Louisville, Ky.).
Originally from Richmond, Va, Michael holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Louisville. As a member of the Cardinal Marching Band, he served as the band’s first ever Student Arranger, arranging many charts for the ensemble on the field and in the stands. Many of Michael’s arrangements have been performed by the Cardinal Marching Band, Cardinal Pride Pep Band, various high schools around the state of Kentucky, and now at UWA. He is a proud member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Delta Chi Fraternity, the College Band Directors National Association, and the National Association for Music Education.
