Natasha Satcher-Bell

Professor, Physical Education

Dr. Satcher-Bell has been employed at the University of West Alabama since August of 2006. Over several years, Dr. Satcher-Bell has served on several committees. Those committees include, but is not limited to: Graduate Academic Council, University Academic Council, College of Education Academic Council, Faculty Senate, Education Council Committee, SACS Undergraduate Programs Subcommittee, and several search committees. She is currently serving as a member of the COE Assessment Committee and University promotion and tenure committee.

Committed to serving the community, Dr. Satcher-Bell participated in the third class of Leadership Sumter County and is now serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the University Charter School and Sumter County Chamber of Commerce. Another service area included serving as the 2016-17 Alabama State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (ASAHPERD) Physical Activity Council Chair. Her role included: planning council sessions for the fall and spring conferences, submitting reports, conducting the annual business meeting and elections during the Fall Conference. The following also highlights contributions toward increasing and extending professional service to ASAHPERD:

  •  Publicized ASAHPERD organization and conference to students, K-12 teachers, and faculty members through email, social media, face-to-face, and lecture (professional development).
  • Served on the ASAHPERD sub-committee (Goal 2- Increase and diversity membership and service).

As a result of her efforts, she was named the 2016-2017 ASAHPERD Ethnicity Minority Award winner.  Dr. Satcher has also been recognized as the 2017 Nellie Rose McCrory Excellence Service Award recipient and the 2018 Lorraine McIlwain Bell Trustee Professor Award recipient.
