What are our physical limitations? What can't the human body do? The science behind sport is an exciting degree that can lead you to a career involving medicine, research and physical achievement. When you earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science, you are qualified to complete certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Throughout the program, you will learn skills such as exercise testing, exercise prescription, clinical evaluation, biomechanical analysis, research, and how to develop strength and conditioning programs.

Career Preparation

Exercise Science is one of the most popular degrees at UWA due to hands on learning, excellent job opportunities and graduate school placement! Exercise Science is a multidisciplinary degree that encompasses: Exercise Physiology, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Nutrition, Psychology, Athletic Training, and Motor Behavior. This umbrella approach to exercise leads to exciting careers in public health, allied healthcare, personal training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, strength and conditioning, sport performance, sports psychology, and clinical exercise physiology. The Exercise Science B.S. degree will also well prepare the student for graduate work in medical, dental, chiropractic, physical and occupational therapy schools.

We encourage our students to get involve with different organizations. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) provides the latest research and education in the field of sports medicine.

The exercise science emphasis prepares students who are seeking careers in corporate and clinical settings. Some careers include the following:
