Description

  • Administrate insurance claims by working with athletic trainers, athletes, parents, and providers to ensure insurance claims are paid.
  • Track payments made by insurance companies and the University to providers for services related to student-athlete injuries.
  • Work with orthopedic physicians’ staff to schedule various procedures and tests for both student-athletes and patients.
  • Track patient referrals to orthopedic physicians.
  • Answer phone calls and schedule patient appointments.
  • Meet with patients to obtain demographics and insurance information.
  • Monitor professional liability policies for athletic trainers.
  • Supervise work-study students.
  • Update Vivature with physician notes and various test reports.
  • Distribute mail and other documents to appropriate individuals.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Training & Sports Medicine.

Qualifications

Required

  • Excellent speaking and writing abilities and professional telephone demeanor.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of desktop applications and strong typing skills.
  • Ability to organize the flow of work, including filing, data collection, information, and appointment scheduling.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, community patients, medical offices, department staff, and other University offices.
  • Strong work ethic and proactive approach to problem-solving with a variety of personnel.

Desired

  • Previous clerical or related experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Work experience in health insurance and medical care or legal environment.
  • Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited institution.
