
The University of West Alabama encourages freshman to live with peers who share similar interests. Within Gilbert Hall, several Living Learning Communities (LLCs) and Themed Communities (TC) have been established that focus on a specific area of interest. LLCs are based on academic interests and majors, whiled TCs are focused on general interests.
STEM LLC
Open to all science, technology, engineering, and math majors.
Business and IMC LLC
Ideal for residents interested in the business field or the Integrated Marketing Communications major.
Health and Healing Professions LLC
Focuses on those who are interested in nursing, pre-med, pre-dentistry, physical therapy, exercise science, or other health-related fields of study.
Teachers of Tomorrow LLC
Perfect for residents interested in a career in education.
Emerging Leader TC
A community for residents who will be the future student leaders at UWA with programming focused on leadership development and student involvement.
Creative Arts TC
An ideal community for those interested in the arts; such as marching band, choir, theatre, visual arts, etc., as well as those looking for an outlet for their creative hobbies and activities.
Sports and Fitness TC
The perfect community for students who have an interest in recreational sports and fitness as part of everyday life with community activities focused around attending athletic events and participating in intramural sports, friendly competitive games, and group workouts.
Academic and Career Exploration TC
A community focused on overall academic success and exploring various majors and careers. This community is fantastic for those who have not yet decided on a major or may need extra academic assistance to find success at UWA.
