I am originally from Moundville, Alabama where I attended Hale County High School. My small high school felt even smaller when compared to those in the neighboring town of Tuscaloosa. Being from a small place I always enjoyed to closeness and unity I shared with my classmates and community. UWA and the town of Livingston offered me the same hospitality and comradery that I was accustomed to while still being large enough that I could branch out and have so many new opportunities. During my time as a student, I was a part of the UWA baseball team, a student ambassador, orientation leader, manager at the University Cinema, and completed an internship in the UWA athletic department. I graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing degree and knew that I did not want to leave the school that meant so much to me. After spending time as a graduate assistant, I accepted a full-time position at UWA.
Favorite Place on Campus:
My favorite place on campus is Tartt Field. There is nothing like spending a day at the ballpark with a nice breeze coming off of Lake LU.
Favorite UWA Tradition:
Without a doubt, Homecoming week. From the Key to Victory, to the parade, to the football game, I love how Homecoming week bring s the whole community of Livingston together.
What do you love most about UWA:
I love the “down home” feel. The school and community are both so inviting and welcoming. I especially love how much the teachers and staff care and truly want their students to succeed.
Piece of Advice for Prospective Students:
Be you! My college experience was amazing, but it may not be for someone else. I encourage anyone who comes to UWA to get involved with groups and activities that make you happy. UWA has something for everyone, so get out and find yours!
