International Admissions Counselor

The University of West Alabama in Livingston has an opening for the position of an International Admissions Counselor.


Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Student Affairs or related field; at least one-year experience in international admission and/or recruiting; must be fluent in English language and Mandarin Chinese language; Position requires extensive travel to China.


Preferred: Master’s degree in student affairs or a related field; three years of experience in admission and recruiting of international students; excellent oral and written communication skills; experience in global studying, working, living or traveling.



  • Applicant must possess the skills necessary to serve as the international admissions counselor and recruiter for international students, especially students from China.

  • Applicant would assist and counsel international students in the admission process.

  • Applicant will review international students’ admission applications for completeness and process the application packages.

  • Will work simultaneously with Admissions and the Office of International Programs regarding required immigration documents for the Form I-20 process of international students.

  • MUST be willing to travel to Mainland China for extensive recruiting trips and serve as the on-ground recruiter in China for international and/or exchange students.

  • Applicant may be required to organize and/or coordinate international students’ day or related events on campus.

  • Applicant must attend training and professional workshops related to international students’ affairs.

  • Other duties that this position requires.

Salary: Dependent upon experience and qualifications; includes excellent benefits package.
