Assistant Professor of Biology

Effective Date: August 1, 2020

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or a related field (ABD candidates will be considered)

  2. Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of physiology, anatomy, or related areas.

  3. Commitment to quality teaching

  4. Ability to direct undergraduate and graduate research

  5. Ability to work effectively with administration, faculty, staff and students from varied socio-economic/ethnic backgrounds

Desired:

  1. Postdoctoral experience in biology, physiology, or related field

  2. Successful teaching in a small student-centered regional university setting

  3. Successful experience in directing undergraduate and graduate research

  4. Experience and interest in computer technologies and instruction

  5. Successful experience in advising students

  6. Experience with online courses

  7. Willingness to serve as pre-health advisor within the Department

  8. A commitment to be involved in recruiting students to our programs

  9. Ability and willingness to secure external funding through grant writing

     

    Responsibilities:

  1. Teach classes as assigned by the Department chairperson.  Classes may include Freshman Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Human/Animal Physiology or other upper level electives.

  2. Direct undergraduate and graduate research

  3. Serve on departmental and University committees

  4. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chairperson and Dean

  5. Fulfill other duties expected of a faculty member, such as student advising, departmental recruitment and retention activities, public service, etc.

Salary: Dependent upon training and experience; includes excellent health benefits package
