Athletic Training Administrative Assistant (Part-time)

Effective Date: January 8, 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Qualifications:

Required

  1. Excellent speaking and writing abilities and professional telephone demeanor
  2. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of desktop applications and strong typing skills
  3. Ability to organize flow of work, including filing, data collection, information, and appointment scheduling
  4. Ability to work effectively with other community patients, medical offices, department staff and other University offices
  5. Strong work ethic and proactive approach to problem solving with a variety of personnel

 

Desired

  1. Previous successful clerical or related experience in a health care setting
  2. Work experience in health insurance and medical care or legal environment
  3. Baccalaureate degree

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage office records such as requisitions, email reminders, calendars, forms and files using a scanning system
  2. Administer secondary insurance claims and related documentation and communication
  3. Distribute mail and faxes to appropriate individuals
  4. Inventory department needs and create purchase requisitions
  5. Answering telephone, email, faxes and text messages
  6. Supervise student workers
  7. Scheduling patients
  8. Attend and prepare minutes for meetings
  9. Keep up with current procedures and HIPAA & FERPA requirements
  10. Assist patients, students, faculty and staff in person and remotely
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Training & Sports Medicine or other appropriate administrator
