Athletic Trainer/Instructor or Assistant Professor

Effective Date: June 1, 2020




  1. Certification by the Board of Certification, Inc.

  2. Master's degree in Health, Physical Education and/or Athletic Training or related area for Instructor rank, earned doctorate for Assistant Professor rank.

  3. Ability to clinically supervise undergraduate students in the athletic training program while providing athletic training services to intercollegiate and interscholastic athletics.

  4. Ability to work effectively as an athletic trainer with interscholastic and community patients in an on-campus athletic training clinical setting.

  5. Ability to work effectively as an athletic trainer with intercollegiate sports and with the administration, faculty, staff, and students from the University community.

  6. Ability to teach courses in the field of athletic training, exercise science, physical education and sport management at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.


  1. Doctoral degree in Health, Physical Education and/or Athletic Training or related area

  2. Athletic training experience in football, basketball, and baseball in the college and/or high school. 


  1. Supervise and provide clinical instruction of athletic training students in clinical rotations.

  2. Teach up to 6-9 credit hours per semester in the area of athletic training as part of CAATE accredited curriculum.

  3. Fulfill other faculty responsibilities, including student advising, scholarly research, creative projects and participation in University and community service.

  4. Perform administrative duties for the varsity athletic training program and the athletic training program as assigned by the Director of Athletic Trainer & Sports Medicine. 

  5. Perform other related tasks as required by the appropriate administrators.
