Should weather conditions prompt changes in operations, announcements will be sent to area media, sent to all faculty, staff and students via UWA Alerts, the University’s emergency alert system, and posted on the University webpage at https://www.uwa.edu/weather. Students should consult these official outlets for announcements. All parties should closely monitor weather conditions and reports and use caution before traveling in inclement weather. Where to take shelter on campus
When there is a tornado warning, you must go to the designated safe place as indicated below:
    • Gilbert Hall: Must go to the 1st floor of Wallace Hall. Anyone with mobility impairments must go to Spieth Hall, as the 1st floor of Wallace is only accessible via stairs. If you do not have time to get to your designated location, you should go to the nearest stairwell in Gilbert Hall and proceed to the lowest level possible.
    • Hoover Apartments: Must go to the 1st floor of Wallace Hall; however, if you do not have enough time to get to the 1st-floor hallway, you should go to your bathroom, close the door, and get into your tub.
    • Stickney Hall: Must go to the 1st-floor hallway; however, if you do not have enough time to get to the 1st-floor hallway, you should go to your bathroom, close the door, and get into your tub.
    • Reed Hall: Must go to Spieth Hall. However, if you do not have enough time to get to Spieth, you should go to your bathroom, close the door, and get into the tub.
    • Patterson Hall: Must go to the 1st floor of Spieth Hall. However, if you do not have enough time to get to Spieth Hall, you should go to your bathroom, close the door, and get into the tub.
    • Selden Hall: Must go to the basement of Selden Hall.
    • If the building you are in is not listed here, go to the ground floor of the building and take shelter along an interior wall or hallway, away from windows, doors, or glass. Be sure to let a friend or colleague know where you are.
