• Undergraduate Research Symposium
  • Poster Guidelines

All presentations will be the form of a poster. Suggested poster size is 30" x 42" in size. Assemble your poster using a PowerPoint slide (set page size to 30" x 42"). Students are encouraged to submit their poster for printing well in advance of the symposium.

    Poster Session Location

The poster session will be held in the Student Union Building (SUB), Tiger’s Den. During registration, each student will be assigned a poster number based on the poster category. The student must post his/her poster in the assigned location between 8:00 – 9:00 am on the day of the symposium. The organizers will provide the presenters with poster boards and pins to display their posters. Presenters will put their poster on the board, without covering the poster number.

    Poster Sessions

There will be two poster presentation sessions. During Session 1 (9:30 am – 11:30 am), the posters will be available for public viewing. Judges may be present, but actual judging will not occur until Session 2. Presenters are encouraged to be with their posters to explain their work and to receive feedback from attendees. During Session 2 (1:00 pm – 3:30 pm), presenters are required to be with their posters to answer questions from judges and to provide additional information about their research projects.

    Dress Code

All students presenting posters are asked to dress professionally or business casual. Professional dress for men comprises a business suit or a blazer, dress pants and a tie, while women wear a business suit or pants suit, or dress and jacket. For business casual dress, men should wear a shirt with a collar and/or a sweater, khakis or dress pants and dress shoes (not athletic shoes), while women wear a moderate length dress or skirt (no miniskirts) with dress shoes. Your clothes should be clean and wrinkle free. While students will not be judged on appearance, compliance with the dress code is expected.
