Erin Dolan George Athletic AssociationProfessor of Innovative Science Education Erin earned a B.A. in Biology at Wellesley College and Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of California at San Francisco. She has held faculty positions at Virginia Tech and University of Georgia. Dolan was founding director of the Texas Institute for Discovery Education in Sciences, which is the undergraduate teaching innovation initiative in the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas Austin. In fall 2016, she is returning to the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Department at the University of Georgia as the Georgia Athletic Association Professor in Innovative Science Education. Dolan's research group studies scalable ways of engaging students in science research and mentoring of undergraduate researchers from a social capital perspective. She is principal investigator or co-investigator on more than $6 million in grants from the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and other agencies, and Editor-in-Chief of the leading biology education journal, CBE - Life Sciences Education.
