• Director of Theatre / Full-Time Faculty Position

     

    Effective Date: August 15, 2015

    The Theatre Director is a nine-month faculty position chiefly responsible for overseeing the Theatre Program and teaching a variety of theatre classes.  In addition, the Theatre Director will direct one production per semester and will report directly to the Chairperson of Fine Arts.

    Qualifications:

    Required

    1. M. F. A. or PhD in Theatre from an accredited institution
    2. Ability to teach classes in Acting, Directing, and History
    3. Directing experience at the collegiate level
    4. Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills
    5. Ability to work successfully with diverse populations in the regional university setting

    Desired:

    1. Successful teaching experience at the college level
    2. Experience working with college-level theatre productions
    3. Professional Acting and/or Directing experience
    4. Strong background in recruiting and curriculum development

    Responsibilities:

    1. Primarily responsible for continuing to build and develop a budding Theatre Program
    2. Serve as the primary director of UWA Theatre productions
    3. Recruiting students to participate in the Theatre Program
    4. Continue to develop curriculum and course offerings as the program continues to blossom
    5. Coordinate (in conjunction with the Technical Director the use of two production spaces
    6. Teach classes in Acting, Directing, and History.
    7. Participate in the strategic planning process for UWA Theatre production facilities and UWA Theatre
