I am from Livingston, Alabama, the home of The University of West Alabama. After graduating from such a small high school, I knew I would be overwhelmed if I attended a big college. With UWA being so close to home, I knew it was a perfect match for me. Because of the size of UWA, I knew it would give me the opportunities big universities could not. I wanted to be a name on campus just not another face. While pursuing my undergraduate degree in Integrated Marketing Communications, I joined the Student Government Association, Livingston Early Alumni Development and American Marketing Association. Also, I was inducted into two honor societies, Blue Key and Omicron Delta Kappa. I was an Orientation Leader and later chosen as Ambassador of the Year 2015.
Favorite place on campus:
My favorite place on campus is the Mac Lab in Wallace Hall. While finishing my undergraduate degree, the Mac Lab became my second home. The Mac Lab is a place where IMC students hung out between classes, which allowed us to form a family within our major.
Favorite UWA Tradition:
Homecoming week on UWA’s campus is my favorite, especially the hunt for the “Key to Victory.” This is a campus wide scavenger hunt for an antique key. I am so competitive that I would spend hours looking for the key… but never found it.
What do you love most about UWA:
The feeling that UWA is home is what I love most about UWA. I love how I can walk around campus seeing people from the university president to students and will be greeted with a smile.
Piece of advice for prospective students:
Get involved on campus! From the first day you have to try new things such as going to an interest meeting or CAB events. Even if you have to go alone, just go and try new things because you never know what good opportunities you could be missing!
