Westbound Orientation

Westbound is your exciting first step in transitioning to the UWA family. Whether you are living on- or off-campus, you will take on new responsibilities, meet a variety of diverse people, and adjust to the academic demands of college life. Westbound Orientation consists of informative sessions and fun interactive programs, designed to enhance your new student experience at the University of West Alabama. Westbound is offered prior to each semester and will inform you and your family what it takes to be a successful student at UWA and allow you to register for classes.

All new undergraduate (freshmen and transfer) must participate in Westbound before being allowed to enroll in academic courses or other UWA activities.

All schedules are subject to administrative change.

Can My Parent Attend UWA Orientation?

Because this time can be both exciting and challenging for the entire family, we offer a corresponding program designed to complement the student Westbound Orientation experience. Parent Westbound Orientation will provide parents and guardians with valuable information that will help them support their student's transition to the University of West Alabama.

Once a student has selected their Westbound Orientation date, parents & guardians will be able to register for Parent Westbound. Although parents/ guardians will be attending the same orientation session as you, a majority of the sessions will be separate. There is a required $50.00 registration fee. Westbound is covered for students once they submit their Enrollment Confirmation Fee.

Parent registration will open on March 1st

There is no separate Parent Orientation for Summer Semester, Transfer, and Express Orientations. Parents are welcome to attend sessions until the registration point. Guests are welcome to tour campus while students are registering.
