The University of West Alabama’s College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics invites elementary to high school students in and around Sumter County to the next in its series of Science Saturdays on Feb. 23 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Bibb Graves Hall on the UWA campus. Dr. Kevin Morse, a UWA professor, will discuss the importance of aquatic insects, what they suggest about water quality, and how to collect and identify the insects. Students will be able to observe and handle live freshwater insects.

Science Saturdays are designed to give young students early exposure to the world of science. The sessions create excitement and enthusiasm that students need not only to learn the basics of science, but also gain the tools to further their studies in the field.

The workshop is free and open to all children in fourth through twelfth grades. Spaces are limited. For more information or to reserve a spot, contact Rosie Campbell or call 205-652-3414. For more information please visit Science Saturday online.
