    JOB TITLE: Fitness Coordinator 

    DEPARTMENT: Student Activities 

    JOB DEFINITION: The Fitness Coordinator is responsible for coordinating a comprehensive fitness program.

    DUTIES:

    • Plan, organize, publicize, administer and evaluate the fitness programs  at the University of West Alabama.
    • Recruit, select, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate all fitness employees.
    • Supervise and evaluate student workers and interns.
    • Sign timecards and monitor payroll of student workers.
    • Implement policies, rules and regulations for fitness activities and facilities.
    • Assist with scheduling and use of fitness center facilities with other university departments, such as Athletics and Physical Plant.
    • Oversight of the group exercise program.
    • Assist with programs sponsored by the Office of Student Activities and the Office of Student Life.
    • Assist the Division of Student Affairs with special projects and coordinate other tasks deemed necessary by the Director of Student Activities.

    SUPERVISION:

    • The Fitness Coordinator reports to the Director of Student Activities.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

    • The position of Fitness Coordinator requires a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education or a related field. At least one year of experience in fitness in collegiate recreation is required.

    DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A master's degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, College Student Personnel, or a related field is preferred.  Professional Fitness and Aquatics certifications through Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) would be beneficial.  Member of the NIRSA Registry.
