• Athletic Trainer/Instructor or Athletic Trainer/Assistant Professor 
     (Non-Tenure Track, 2 Positions)

     

    Position:         Athletic Trainer/Instructor or Athletic Trainer/Assistant Professor position in Physical Education and Athletic Training (non- tenure track).

    Effective Date: January 1, 2017

    Qualifications

    Essential:

    1. Certification by the NATA Board of Certification, Inc.
    2. Master's degree in Health, Physical Education and/or Athletic Training or related area.
    3. Ability to clinically supervise undergraduate students in the athletic training program while providing athletic training services to intercollegiate athletics.
    4. Ability to work effectively as an athletic trainer with interscholastic and community patients in an on-campus athletic training clinical setting.
    5. Ability to work effectively as an athletic trainer with intercollegiate sports and with the administration, faculty, staff, and students from the University community.
    6. Ability to teach courses in the field of athletic training, exercise science, physical education and sport management.
    7. Ability to commute to several area schools within 1 to 80-mile range. (if selected for outreach position)

    Desirable:

    1. Athletic training experience in football, basketball, and baseball in the college and/or high school setting.
    2. Doctoral degree in Health, Physical Education and/or Athletic Training or related area.

    Functions:

    1. Supervise and provide clinical instruction of athletic training students in clinical rotations. 
    2. Serve as athletic trainer to the University varsity athletic program and Athletic Training & Sports Medicine Center on a daily basis as assigned.
    3. Teach up to 4-8 credit hours per semester in the area of athletic training as part of CAATE accredited curriculum.
    4. Fulfill other faculty responsibilities, including student advising, scholarly research, creative projects and participation in University and community service. 
    5. Perform administrative duties for the varsity athletic training program and the athletic training program as assigned by the Director of Athletic Trainer & Sports Medicine.
    6. Perform other related tasks as required by the appropriate administrators.
    7. Work with several area secondary schools in implementing and coordinating an athletic training outreach program and provide athletic training services with an emphasis on education to the coaches, physicians, administrators, and parents associated with the schools.  This function includes the coordination of high school visitation. (if selected for outreach position)
