• Apply for Housing

Prospective students are encouraged to apply for housing as soon as they have applied for admission to the University.  However, students that do not meet the requirements for unconditional admission should wait until they know they will be permitted to enroll.

    New Freshmen

For the fall semester, priority in assignments is given to new freshmen that apply for housing by the first day of May. Freshmen may still apply for housing after May 1, but space will be limited. Freshmen that apply for the fall semester after May 1 may be assigned to a temporary room in Gilbert Hall or to another residence hall until a permanent room becomes available.  New freshmen beginning spring semester are encouraged to apply for housing by November 15.  New freshmen beginning summer semester should apply for housing by April 15.

    Transfer Students

For the fall semester, first priority in assignments is given to transfer students that apply for housing by February 15.  Second priority is given to transfer students that apply by April 1.  Transfer students may still apply for the fall semester after April 1, but space will be limited. Transfer students that apply after April 1 for the fall semester may be assigned to Selden Hall (the overflow residence hall) or to Gilbert Hall, the freshman residence hall.  Transfer students that plan to begin spring semester should apply for housing by November 15.  Transfer students that plan to live on campus during the summer semester should apply for housing by April 15.

    Current UWA Students

Current UWA students must apply for housing by March 31 to receive priority in their fall assignment. Current UWA students that apply for the fall semester after March 31 may be assigned to Selden Hall, a traditional residence hall with community bathrooms.  Current students that plan to first move on campus for the spring semester should apply for housing by November 15.  Current students that plan to live on campus during the summer semester should apply for housing by April 15.

    Special Accommodations Requests

Current UWA students with special concerns or disabilities must meet with the Director of Campus Life and Housing by March 15 so that reasonable accommodations may be made prior to the beginning of the Room Selection Process.

New freshmen and transfer students needing special housing accommodation must apply for housing no later than May 1 for the fall semester, November 15 for the spring semester and April 15 for the summer semester.

    Housing Applications

Since the Housing application must be signed and returned with a check or money order for $130, you are not able to apply for housing online.  However, a copy of each housing application is available below, for printing purposes.  If you prefer, you may call the Housing Office at 205-652-3686 to request that a housing application be mailed to you:
