• Apply for Housing 

     

    New Freshmen

    For the fall semester, priority in assignments is given to new freshmen that apply for housing by May 1. Before applying for housing, new freshmen must first be admitted to the University of West Alabama and must pay their $200 Enrollment Confirmation Fee (ECF)  The ECF is managed by the UWA Admissions Office and may be paid online here.  Freshmen may still apply for housing after May 1, but space will be limited. Freshmen that apply for the fall semester after May 1 may be assigned to a temporary room in Gilbert Hall or to another residence hall until a permanent room becomes available.  New freshmen that will begin their UWA experience during the spring semester are encouraged to apply for housing by November 15.  New freshmen beginning summer semester should apply for housing by April 15.

    Transfer Students

    For the fall semester, priority is given to transfer students that apply for housing by April 7.  Transfer students may still apply for housing for the fall semester after April 7, but space will be limited. Transfer students that apply for housing after April 7 may be assigned to a temporary room until a permanent room becomes available.  The possibility also exists that transfer students that apply for housing after April 7 may not be approved for housing, based on the number of available rooms. Transfer students that plan to begin spring semester should apply for housing by November 15.  Transfer students that plan to live on campus during the summer semester should apply for housing by April 15.  Transfer students that earned college credit prior to graduating from high school (dual enrollment, advanced placement, CLEP, etc.) are required to live at Gilbert Hall their first year of full-time enrollment at UWA if they have earned less than 48 semester credits and more than 50% of their college credits were earned during dual enrollment, and/or through AP and CLEP tests.   

    Current UWA Students

    Current UWA students must apply for housing by April 7 to be eligible to participate in the Room Selection Process for the following year. Current UWA students that apply for the fall semester after April 7 may be assigned to a temporary room until a permanent room becomes available.  The possibility also exists that current UWA students that apply for housing after April 7 may not be approved for housing, based on the number of available rooms. Current students that plan to first move on campus for the spring semester should apply for housing by November 15.  Current students that plan to live on campus during the summer semester should apply for housing by April 15.

    Special Accommodations Requests

    Current UWA students with special concerns or disabilities should meet with the Director of Housing and Residence Life by March 24th so that reasonable accommodations may be made prior to the beginning of the Room Selection Process.  While this is not required, students that fail to meet with the director by March 24th may be placed on a waiting list for special accommodations.

    New freshmen and transfer students needing special housing accommodation should apply for housing no later than April 7 for the fall semester, November 15 for the spring semester and April 15 for the summer semester.  Students with special accommodation needs should contact the Director of Housing and Residence Life by April 7 so that reasonable accommodations may be made.  While this is not required, new freshmen and transfer students that fail to contact the director by April 7 may be placed on a waiting list for special accommodations.
