Greetings ACUFP Members—

As you may have noticed from R.T.’s email (see below), we had an ACUFP meeting scheduled at Troy for October 20-21. Unfortunately, ACUFP’s long-serving President, George Makowski at UNA, has had to resign for personal reasons. That apparently leaves me as President since I was First Vice President. After talking with George about the meeting and to Steven Taylor at Troy, who was handling the arrangements, as well as corresponding with the other officers, it looks like we won’t have a critical mass for the meeting. We had violated the 30 day in advance notification requirement and a lot of people had schedule conflicts. At any rate, we decided to cancel the fall meeting.

The agenda would have been primarily campus reports, plus Gordon Stone’s report. We do, however, need to approve the minutes of the last meeting and conduct elections. We can either circulate written reports, which I’ll be happy to collect if you wish, or save them until the spring meeting in Montgomery on Higher Ed Day—or both. We can do the minutes via email and possibly do the elections that way.

I hope we haven’t inconvenienced anyone beyond repair. My guess is that most of us are so busy that it may be a relief not to have to take another weekend away from our families and other activities.

My sincerest thanks to George Makowski for continuing dedication to this organization and for a job well done. He will be missed.
