Members of the Mobile Opera will perform many best-loved arias and duets from well-known operas to include Carmen, Manon, and La Boheme. Dinner will be served before the performance beginning at 6:00 p.m. The menu includes: salad Viennese, Tuscany chicken, German potato salad, braised red cabbage, rolls with butter and Crème Brulee. The cost of the dinner is $12.50 per person. <br /><br />Mobile Opera's commitment to the encouragement of promising young American operatic talent has seen such outstanding artists as Christine Weidinger, Michael Devlin, Susan Quittmeyer, Anthony Laciura, Barry McCauley, Stella Zambalis, Linda Zoghby, Amy Johnson, Philip Webb, Hal France and Sylvia McNair leave the Mobile Opera stage for appearances with the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, San Francisco Opera and the prestigious opera houses and festivals of Europe.<br /><br />Registration for the event is due Oct. 31 due to limited dinner seating. For more information contact Vivian Houser at 205-652-3611. <br /><br />For over thirty years, the Sumter County Fine Arts Council has provided quality entertainment and arts education programs to the West Alabama community. The SCFAC, based in Livingston, Ala., is governed by a Board of Directors whose members represent the west central Alabama area. The SCFAC receives support from the Alabama State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, The University of West Alabama and from other agencies, businesses and individuals.
