• Frequently Asked Questions

    Are You Eligible?

    1. While meeting the basic criteria does not guarantee selection, you must meet these criteria to be considered. There is also a printable copy of this information here.
    2. Applicants must have a GED or High School Diploma to participate in the CNA Training Program.
    3. Applicants enrolled in an institution of higher education are NOT eligible to participate in the CNA program because it is a community based program.
    4. Applicants must live in the Black Belt region to participate in the program hosted in their county. Black-Belt counties include: Greene, Sumter, Marengo, Hale, Perry, Dallas, Wilcox, Autauga, Lowndes, Choctaw, Crenshaw, Pike, Bullock, Macon, Clarke, Washington and Pickens.
    5. Applicants who have completed a Nurse Aide Training Program within in the last 24 months in the state of Alabama are NOT eligible.
    6. Applicant must demonstrate a need. (Unemployed, underemployed,, economically or socially disadvantaged)

     

    Are You Available?

    The CNA classes start dates vary depending on beginning and ending or previous classes. All classes will be announced in local newspapers and applications will be mailed to those on the interest list.

    Are You Ready?

    Once you know you have met the eligibility requirements and have received and completed your application, you will need to provide these supporting documents for the complete application to be accepted. Below is the list of needed information.

    1. Completed Application Form
    2. Completed Reference List (On Application)
    3. Copy of Drivers License or State ID
    4. Proof of Income (if applicable)
    5. Verification of Public Assistance

     

    Are You Finished?

    Completed applications can either be mailed or hand delivered to Outreach Services. Applications that are faxed will not be accepted under any conditions. They will only be accepted within the time frames provided by Outreach Services. These will be communicated via email and newspaper mediums.
