The University of West Alabama, through an intercollegiate initiative, will host a small business educational event for those interested art as a business on Monday, Feb. 10, in Thomasville on the Alabama Southern Community College campus.

The event is a partnership between the UWA Small Business Development Center and the SBDC at the University of South Alabama, Black Belt Treasures, and the University of Alabama Center for Economic Development.

Marc Wilson of the Wilson Company will offer information and tips on several aspects of making art a business. Topics discussed will include understanding collectors, merchandising, marketing, advertising, branding, creating a social media presence, and understanding the business of selling art.

In addition to Wilson’s informative session, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a counselor from the SBDC and to have one-on-one site visits with Wilson.

The event is free to the public but requires registration. To request more information or to register, contact the Small Business Development Center at UWA at outreachservices@uwa.edu or call 205-652-3665.

The Small Business Development Center at the University of West Alabama is funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. Reasonable arrangements for persons with disabilities will be made, if requested at least two weeks in advance by contacting the office. The SBDC at UWA is a member of the Alabama SBDC Network.
