Area educators are invited to the University of West Alabama’s annual Early Childhood Conference on Oct. 4 and 5 at Bell Conference Center in Livingston. Sponsored by the Julia S. Tutwiler College of Education, the free conference promotes innovative ideas through several means of learning. The conference includes sessions in areas of mathematics and science. The goal of the conference is to inform educators on the value of outdoor classrooms and the importance of making math and science relevant to students.
The conference will feature Steve Rich, author of Bringing Outdoor Science In: Thrifty Classroom Lessons. Rich was recognized for his work with two NSTA awards, the Ciba Exemplary Science Teaching Award and the Ohaus Award for Innovations in Science Teaching. Rich’s presentation is created for Pre-K – 6th grade teachers.
