The University of West Alabama’s College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics invites elementary to high school students in and around Sumter County to the next in its series of Science Saturdays on March 16 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Bibb Graves Hall on the UWA campus. Dr. Jing Chen, a UWA professor, will present a workshop entitled “Mathematics in the Cards.”
Students will learn several mathematical concepts through learning magic tricks with playing cards. The workshop is designed to make students realize that mathematics is fun to study.

Science Saturdays are designed to give young students early exposure to the world of science and mathematics. The sessions create excitement and enthusiasm that students need not only to learn the basics of science, but also gain the tools to further their studies in the field.

The workshop is free and open to all children in fourth through twelfth grades. Spaces are limited. For more information or to reserve a spot, please contact  Rosie Campbell or call 205-652-3414. For more information please visit Science Saturday’s website.
