Frequently Asked Questions The University of West Alabama is transitioning from the Remote Proctor Pro (RPPro) system to the Remote Proctor Now (RPNow) system. If you are unsure if you are using RPPro or RPNow, please look at the information below and follow the directions provided for the system you are using. Remote Proctor Pro (RPPro) RPPro requires you use a proprietary camera while taking your exam. The camera would have been shipped to you upon enrolling at UWA. A picture of the camera is below. Remote Proctor Now (RPNow) RPNow utilizes your built-in webcam (or any USB webcam connected to your computer) as part of the software to take the exam. Each of the below questions is designated RPPro only, RPNow only or both RPPro and RPNow. --------------------------- What are the setup instructions for the Remote Proctor device (both RPPro and RPNow)? The installation instructions for the Remote Proctor can be found here.Can the Remote Proctor device be shared (RPPro only)? The Remote Proctor device cannot be shared by students. Each student must use their own device. Can the Remote Proctor device work over dialup (both RPPro and RPNow)? Dialup is not supported for Remote Proctor as well as other audio visual activities. High speed (DSL, Cable or LAN) is required. Dialup, cellular high speed and satellite Internet service is not supported for use with the Remote Proctor system. However, cellular high speed and satellite internet service may work with strong signal strength. Can I move the Remote Proctor device from one PC to another (RPPro only)? Yes, the device can be moved from one computer to another. What are the specifications for a computer to work with the Remote Proctor device (both RPPro and RPNow)? Technical Requirements for the Remote Proctor can be found here. Is the Remote Proctor device on all of the time (both RPPro and RPNow)? No. The Remote Proctor is only on for enrollment authentication and during the actual exam. Do you have a privacy statement (both RPPro and RPNow)?
