    How do I acquire the Remote Proctor device and how much does it cost? The Remote Proctor hardware and software are now included in standard tuition and fees. Please visit the Acquiring the Remote Proctor link on the left for additional information.

    Please note that prior to Spring 2 2010, students were required to purchase the hardware and software (with a $30 annual software renewal fee). One year from your device enrollment date, you will be prompted to pay the $30 fee. This fee may be paid by VISA and MasterCard. Upon verified payment you will be prompted to re-enroll your biometric data. After data collection, you will be taken to Blackboard.

    What are the setup instructions for the Remote Proctor device? The installation instructions for the Remote Proctor device can be found here.

    Can the Remote Proctor device be shared? The Remote Proctor device cannot be shared by students. Each student must use their own device.

    Can the Remote Proctor device work over dialup? Dialup is not supported for Remote Proctor as well as other audio visual activities. High speed (DSL, Cable or LAN) is required. Dialup, cellular high speed and satellite Internet service is not supported for use with the Remote Proctor system. However, cellular high speed and satellite internet service may work with strong signal strength.

    Can I move the Remote Proctor device from one PC to another? Yes, the device can be moved from one computer to another.

    What are the specifications for a computer to work with the Remote Proctor device?

    Is the Remote Proctor device on all of the time? No. The device is only on for enrollment authentication and during the actual exam.

    Will the Remote Proctor device work with MAC? Yes with OSX v10.5 (Leopard) and v10.6 (Snow Leopard).

    I'm primarily an on campus student but take the occasional online course (hybrid student). What are my options? Remote Proctor devices are available for use in the Tutwiler Library. Reservations must be made in advance by calling the Library at 205.652.3611.
