• UWA hosts procurement conference for West Alabama

    LIVINGSTON, Ala.—The University of West Alabama’s Small Business Development Center will sponsor a workshop informing regional small business owners and industry leaders about government contracting opportunities in West Alabama. The Procurement Conference for West Alabama is set for Thursday, April 14 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Thomasville Civic Center.

    Ron Sparks, Alabama Rural Development Office director, will serve as keynote speaker for the day’s luncheon, while sessions throughout the day provide networking opportunities with participating agencies. Participants will receive information on certification requirements, becoming contract ready and upcoming opportunities from a variety of buyers. The workshop will feature presentations from agencies including ThyssenKrupp Steel, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Small Business Administration and Hyundai, among others.

    The workshop is free and lunch will be provided. Continental breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m. Pre-registration is required, so please register by April 11 by contacting Tynell Fields at 205-652-3665 or outreachservices@uwa.edu.
